This is an amazing game I enjoyed every minute of it. But just the other day my xbox started to tell me that it could not read the disk that is when i found out that the disk had a small circular scratch going around the edge of the disk. I am in the process of exchanging it right now but other that the scratch this was an amazing game that I would recommended to anyone who loves a game with a good story.
if you buy this game you will love it, unlike almost all other games you can sort of connect with other characters in the game and really get connected to the story. this is my most favorite game i have, and i have some really good games like call of duty modern warfare two. i bought this game when it was new and it is still my most played game. there are lots of different machine guns, sniper rifles, shotguns, handguns, armors, abilities (like biotic powers which is like a kind of having the power to through someone and stuff), and upgrades. everyone i know that has played this game has fallen in love with it and that is why i am writing this review hope you like this game as much as i did,
If you love Science Fiction in any way, shape, or form, Mass Effect is the game for you. The game has several classes from which to choose, ranging from the straightforward soldier to the Jedi-like Biotic user. Despite a few technical issues, the game convincingly thrusts you into an epic tale of galactic peril, at the center of which lies a character of your own creation. The choices you make using the unique conversation wheel sway your reputation towards lawful (Paragon) or reckless (Renegade). The storyline is truly the best part of this game, getting especially juicy in the last hour or so.If Sci Fi is your thing, do your self a favor and buy Mass Effect. You won't regret it.
the thing i think i like best though is,if someone is being rude to you,a lot of times you can choose to simply waste them. THis is a rpg with consequences and all like that.you can be anything from a tree hugger to a genocidal madman.its great fun. the main guy in this game is like a glorified buzz lightyear in a watered down "knights of the old republic".but since kotor is my favorite game ever, even a watered down version still ROCKS. remember in kotor how you couldnt ride the speeders.well there is a awesome moon buggy thingy called the mako for you to have endless fun in on all those desolate planets in between blowing alien brains out. its set in the future of earth.there are A LOT of planets discovered now.you will get to spend a ton of time finding planets you cant even visit.then you will get to mine other planets.like this one time it said "there are huge deposits of plutonium".i was estatic.do i get to blow it up.can i wait till its near the planet the bad guy is on ,then blow him up.is that the end.no such luck.they just wanted to tell me.ho hum. but, sometimes you get to blast it out with aliens and shape the future of the universe, quite literaly.the decisions you make are far reaching indeed.intergalactic.stellar. the coolest thing i think as far as innovation goes is the strip bar.it has real.well you get to see it all unlike say gta.its so cool.and just to prove how cool they are.aliens have them too. this game is really good.you should definately get it.
Where the JRPGS seem to be getting worse and worse, Western RPGs have been flourishing.I was a little late to the Mass Effect craze due to not having an XBOX 360, and due my my computer being crap. But I could deal. It isn't even close. You play as Commander Shepherd, and yeah, you have to save the universe. There's no sort feature.
Whatever. However, as soon as I got my XBOX, I picked up this Platinum Edition of the game.I love it.The story is excellent, which is pretty much expected from Bioware. The overall story isn't that original, but the parts that make it up feel very unique. Love them or hate them, they are part of the game. Especially Western RPGs.
Maybe it would be a deal-breaker for you. This was supposedly improved on in the PC version, but man, on the XBOX, it was a chore to go through thing in the menus. The side-quests and side-planets are repetitive. The game also scales perfectly are you amp up the difficulty. Now there are some things that need improving, and I understand that ME2 fixed, well, all of them. The menus are crap. Before anyone says anything, there ARE those jokers that say Mass Effect ripped off Halo in terms of the main space station.
And anyways, Halo ripped off Larry Niven's Ringworld, so it doesn't have room to judge. They are used to add a false sense of replayability. I'm a big fan of RPGs. The first play through doesn't suffer from it, but by the 4th, you get tired of the similar maps, absurd terrain, etc. The rover you use to navigate the planets is crap. Regardless, this was all supposedly fixed in ME2.Achievements. It adds replayability. The action. Also, some of the weapon achievements don't scale well.Regardless, ME is pure fun.
The SF theme of the game is terrific. It is one of the best RPGs in print right now. Moving on.I loved the way the choices you made affected the game, and that they will affect the sequel (can't wait for my copy to arrive). Awesome. I usually think achievements are fine, but ME's are cheap. I cannot wait for my copy of the sequel to come.
